The jerboas have moved into Whisker Cay. Apparently, I’m the caretaker.

PALMREACH — ENTRY 005

Whisker Cay has residents now. Jerboas. Just jerboas.

Attempted a census. Counted twelve, then fourteen, then the same one three times.

One climbed onto my shoulder. Another inspected the clipboard. Neither offered to hold still.

They seem pleased with the palms and shrubs. Good to know somebody appreciates the landscaping.

Sat down for a brew and found my spot occupied.

Moved along.

Beginning to understand the arrangement: I provide the island, maintain the grounds and carry anyone who gets tired.

They provide supervision.

Whisker Cay is under new management.

Apparently, I’m the caretaker.
